How Early Should You Book a Photographer for Your Perth Christmas Party?
If you’re reading this in July or August and haven’t locked in a photographer for your Christmas party yet, you’re in good shape. If you’re reading this in October, you might already be too late for the date you want.
Perth’s corporate Christmas party season runs roughly from late November through to the third week of December, and it’s shorter than most people realise. Factor in that most venues book out their Friday and Saturday nights first, that many businesses have fixed dates tied to venue availability, and that photographers – like any other supplier – fill their calendars fast once the season starts, and the window to secure someone good is narrower than you’d expect.
When do people actually start booking?
From experience shooting corporate Christmas parties in Perth across multiple years, the serious enquiries start coming in from late September onwards. By mid-October the popular dates are largely gone. November enquiries are still workable but the choice of available photographers narrows considerably, and anyone leaving it to December is almost always compromising on either their date, their photographer, or both.
The sweet spot for booking is July to September. You confirm your date, lock in your photographer, and don’t think about it again until the week of the event. For a December shoot that’s only three to five months away, which sounds like plenty of time but genuinely isn’t once you factor in how quickly the season fills.
Why does it fill so fast?
Most professional photographers only take one booking per night. A photographer with a strong corporate client base might have eight to ten available Saturday nights in the Christmas season, and once those are gone they’re gone. Unlike caterers or venues who can sometimes squeeze in an extra booking, a photographer is physically present for the whole event – there’s no doubling up.
Perth also has a smaller pool of experienced corporate event photographers than people assume. The ones who regularly shoot for mid to large sized businesses, who are comfortable with low light and fast-moving events, and who deliver a consistent professional result are not hard to find but there are not dozens of them.
What to look for when you do book
Check that the photographer has genuine corporate event experience – not just birthday parties or weddings repackaged as corporate work. Ask to see examples from similar events, specifically in low light or indoor venue conditions, since that’s what most Christmas parties involve. Confirm turnaround time for the edited gallery, since many corporate clients need images quickly for end of year communications and social media while the event is still relevant.
Also confirm what’s included. Some photographers quote a low rate and charge separately for editing, travel, or additional hours. A clear package with transparent pricing saves the back and forth later.
Luxwerk Photography covers corporate Christmas parties and end of year functions across Perth, from intimate team gatherings to large scale gala events. If you’re planning something for late 2026 and want to confirm availability, get in touch via our corporate event photography page or drop us a message directly.
Three to five months is the ideal window. July to September bookings for November and December dates give you the best choice of photographers and dates.
Popular dates fill from October onwards. Leaving it to November or December means working with whoever is still available rather than whoever is best suited to your event.
Most events are covered in two to four hours depending on the format. A cocktail function with a short awards segment usually needs two to three hours. A sit down dinner with speeches and entertainment typically needs three to four.
Yes and it makes a real difference. A quick rundown of the run sheet, key people to photograph, and any specific moments you want captured means nothing gets missed on the night.
